Celebrate Autumn with a Blog Hop, Naming a Character, and Dishing About Crisp Air, Falling Leaves and Fuzzy Socks - J. Kenner

Celebrate Autumn with a Blog Hop, Naming a Character, and Dishing About Crisp Air, Falling Leaves and Fuzzy Socks

The air is crisp, the leaves are turning, and the scent of burning wood fills the air. It’s Autumn, folks! And even though I’m in Texas, where the change of the seasons isn’t very dramatic (we go from green leaves to dead leaves), I am loving the new hint of chill in the air–even if it does only last for the morning.

View of New Jersey from the Cloisters
Beautiful! And I know this isn't even as colorful as it gets up north!
I’m jealous of folks who live in the Northeast. Instead of just feeling the change in the air, they can see it all around them.

We recently returned from a trip to New York, and the view of New Jersey from the Cloisters was amazing. And all the falling leaves and crisp air encouraged some serious skipping and dancing and playing!

Here's my youngest dancing in the leaves!

I’ve only lived in Texas and Southern California, and it’s just not the same. Though we do try. In Orange County, my husband and I once cranked up the air conditioner in November and lit a fire (why there was a fireplace in an OC apartment is beside the point). It was … nice. At least until the cats decided the next day to explore the ashes and got little kitty footprints all over the white carpet!!

Last year during this season, we had a little couch on our back patio, and every morning, I’d take our invalid cat outside and read while she explored the yard. She’d gotten too old and sick to jump the fence, but she would sit back on her haunches, lift her nose to the sky, and breathe in the smell of fall. I was right there with her. There’s something spectacular in the air when the seasons change.

This year, Tiger’s gone, but I still want to pull on my fuzzy socks and go outside in the mornings and read.

Do you like to read in the crisp air? If you do, be sure to check out my books, including Release Me, coming in January! In fact, in honor of Autumn and backporch reading and Release Me‘s upcoming pub date, I’m doing a book-oriented giveaway.

It’s hard to say what exactly would be my Go-To Autumn Romance book. When I think real hard about it, I would have to say it has a sexy, strong, determined male that when it comes to love is just lost. Then there has to be a woman who is usually in need of help or needs to know what love and family is. Together they heal each other and love turns out to be their greatest gift. I also love a happy ending at this time of year, usually where the epilogue has them starting their own family to love and cherish. Oh….and definitely HOT loving too!

NoI have not read your series yet, but after checking out your page I am definately going to go to amazon today after work and check out the first in the series!

Sorry to hear about the loss of you cat. I am a pet owner myself and it is always so hard.

I love the fall here in New England. The colors are great and I love to go apple and pumpkin picking with the family. then of course there are all the tasty treats like apple crisp, apple pancakes, pumpkin bread.

thanks for sharing your thoughts on the subject

Definitely love the colours of Autumn and the chill in the air! There’s something that almost physically quickens around you, exciting you and energising you, when you spend time out there all bundled up.

I’m sorry to hear about Tiger, but I’m sure he loved that extra bit of consideration you gave to him at the end of his journey in this life 🙂

Thanks for the giveaway!

I love watching the leaves changing colors right in front of you. I too live in TX and have also lived in NC and LA due to the military way of life, and I think the colors of the leaves are magical. It’s just breathtaking to go for a drive just to look at all the trees and the beautiful colors they have. It could be any time of the year for me to curl up with a book because I’m a bookaholic lol. My idea of a good day is curling up in my recliner and losing myself in the book I am reading. My husband doesn’t understand this of course haha, but I have tried to explain to him when I read it’s like I’m watching a movie because I really am not seeing words I’m seeing the pictures and acts that are occurring in the book.

I recently started a blog about the books I read as I read them, but as my husband just had surgery I was a little lax on it but I need to post a review of Release Me that I read because I have only GREAT things to say about it! I cannot wait till next year for the next two books. I have patience issues so this is a LONG wait for me lol, but it will be worth it.

Thanks

Thanks for the giveaway!! Super excited for this bloghop.
Don’t have a specific book to read during the autumn season. Just which ever books that come out during this time of year that I buy would be it.
But I love Karina Cooper’s books, they’re a great read.

Haven’t gotten my hands on Shadow Keepers yet although I do love a good paranormal. One series I enjoy is the Vampires in America with its chief vampire Raphael. The new vamp on the block is Lucas, whose book has just been released. Looking forward to reading that one.

Love the first frost with the bite of the chill in the air. What I miss is a fireplace to take off the chill. Love the change of colors in the foliage.

I really prefer paranormal but I have read many urban fantasy and liked them. The main advantage to the paranormal is – though they parallel real life, they can never happen! I want to leave this place and go somewhere else, to a type of ‘wonderland’. And that is what I get from your books – a place to travel to.

I live in WV so we get to experience all of the colors of fall. It is absolutely gorgeous here with the mountains ablaze with all of the orange, red, yellow and brown leaves blended together like a Monet painting.

I have not read any of your books yet, but, I am making a list and going to the bookstore. I love reading books with a paranormal twist to them and I am enjoying Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness right now. I also like the Arcane Society Novels by Amanda Quick.

No I have not read The Shadow Keepers but I have read Kenner’s other books. They were so much fun. Friend loaned them to me stating that they were a “must” read.

Favorite fantasy novel is easy… Lackey’s Valdemar series! Hard to pinpoint one book to say I like..

Hello, All!
I love autumn with all the brilliant colors: oranges, yellows and reds of leaves. I love crisp, cool mornings where the sky is so blue it looks endless and the air is so fresh in your lungs. I love snuggling up in a warm throw on a cold autumn day with a good book. Of course, I love snuggling up with a good book about anytime of the year. I love Thanksgiving because it is a time to remember all the many blessings in my life and express thanks. I love baking spicy pumpkin pies with dollops of cream.

I like stories of the unexpected. I also love the steamy passion but I hate mentioning favorite authors because the list is long. I appreciate the many styles authors use to weave stories of mystery, love, intrigue, preternatural and inspiration. I love reading because I can go anywhere, any time in my mind and imagine indescribable things.

Thank you for this contest and the opportunity to be introduced to new authors.

I was introduced to your books when I picked up the very first Kate the demon hunter book while my son was receiving radiation treatment at a cancer center. It was just what I needed to escape when he was receiving treatment, and I was hooked! From that day forward, I have read any of your books I could get my hands on. My Kindle is filled with your books, and I always look forward to new releases-regardless of which pen name you publish them under.
